NFL Power Rankings: Week 7
16 – Atlanta Falcons (3-2) (PR: Unranked)
LW – Win over Buffalo Bills 24-14
Holy Bijan! Raise your hand if you were dumb enough to trade him away in fantasy for CMC. Yep, you guessed it, I did just that. A wave of regret washes over me as I realize he is leading the way for offensive player of the year. The guy had 138 rushing yards by halftime! He ended with 238 yards on the night. Absolute insanity. The Falcons’ offense is clicking after the BYE and the defense did well too after holding the Buffalo Josh Allens to 14 points.
15 – Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2) (PR: 10)
LW – Loss to Seattle Seahawks 12-20
Huge thank you to the Jags for making me look so bad. A week after I express how good they are, they drop the game to the Seahawks. The lack of pass rush has finally caught up to them. Entering the game, they were 27th in sacks only generating 7 on the season. Guess what happened this week – Sam Darnold was only sacked once for 9 yards and was able to throw for 298 yards. On the bright side, the connection between Trevor Lawrence and Brian Thomas Jr. has been reignited as he caught 8 passes for 90 yards.
14 – Los Angeles Chargers (4-2) (PR: 15)
LW – Win over Miami Dolphins 29-27
For the first couple of weeks, the Chargers tried to be a passing offense leaving last years’ blueprint for success in the dust. They did well in the beginning but then started to falter. Jim Harbaugh came to his senses and went back to his run first gameplan in the second half of this game and results came quick. The offense came to life. Kimani Vidal looked like a fantasy superstar. The Chargers scored 20 points in 2 quarters. Come on Jim, run the damn ball.
13 – New England Patriots (4-2) (PR: NR)
LW – Win over New Orleans Saints 25-19
Drake Maye almost had a perfect game last week. I didn’t realize how well he was doing this year until this performance. The running game for the Patriots still needs help but I’m not sure that will matter if Maye keeps playing like this.
12 – San Francisco 49ers (4-2) (PR: 6)
LW – Loss to Tampa Bay Buccaneers 19-30
Injuries continue to be the story for this team. The 9ers are decimated on both sides of the ball. Let’s go through a couple – Brock Purdy, George Kittle, Ricky Pearsall, Nick Bosa and now Fred Warner. The amount of money that they have in players who are hurt could provide generational wealth to most families. Without Fred for the rest of the season, the defense goes from good to very, very bad. The offense will have to go above and beyond to win games.
11 – Denver Broncos (4-2) (PR: 7)
LW – Win over New York Jets 13-11
The Broncos won and dropped 4 spots. Why you ask? Because that was quite possibly the worst football game I’ve watched in the last 10 years. The Broncos almost lost to the literal worst team in the NFL. How do you only win by 2 points against a team that had -10 passing yards on the day?
10 – Kansas City Chiefs (3-3) (PR: 13)
LW – Win against Detroit Lions
You know how the Seahawks have the 12th man? I think it should be more of the Chiefs thing because of the refs. Yet another game with 0 penalties called against them. I promise you, the Chiefs are not that perfect. Rant done back to your scheduled programing. The Chiefs have now won 2 in a row and finished 3-3 without Rashee Rice. Honestly, good for them. Patrick Mahomes is playing better and now here comes his best offensive weapon.
9 – Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1) (PR: 14)
LW – Win over Cleveland Browns 23-9
Being a New York Jet just kills careers. Aaron Rodgers got out of there and is playing like Aaron Rodgers again. His connection with DK Metcalf shows glimpses of brilliance. The defense played lights out too! No takeaways but they held the Browns to under 250 total yards!
8 – Seattle Seahawks (4-2) (PR: 12)
LW – Win over Jacksonville Jaguars 20-12
Last week, I said that JSN was on his way to superstardom. This week, I’m saying he is officially a superstar. He legitimately leads all WRs with 696 receiving yards. What I’m not understanding is why Zach Charbonnet continues to get carries over Kenneth Walker. Zach is just not good.
7 – Green Bay Packers (3-1-1) (PR: 8)
LW – Win over Cincinnati Bengals 27-18
Their run game is back! For the first time in forever (shoutout Frozen fans), it feels like Josh Jacobs can dominate again. Jacobs rans for 93 yards and 2 TDs. The Packers as a whole had 153 yards on the ground. Huge help to that offense because they are constantly, constantly hurt at WR.
6 – Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) (PR: 3)
LW – Loss to New York Giants 17-34
I’m just gonna come out and say it. The Eagles offense is horrible. Absolutely, brutally horrible. It’s not fun to watch at all. You have a fullback at QB. The tush push is the most boring play ever invented. Saquon isn’t doing a damn thing this year. AJ Brown is extremely checked out. But let me go back to the Saquon thing. He was the Madden cover athlete this year. If you didn’t know, there is a Madden curse where the cover athlete gets hurt. Saquon isn’t hurt but if he was, at least there would be a reason why he is underperforming so much. Too harsh?? Maybe.
5 – Los Angeles Rams (4-2) (PR: 9)
LW – Win against Baltimore Ravens 17-3
Decent showing by the Rams this week in the win. I’m a little disappointed that it wasn’t more of a domination on the scoreboard, however. I mean it was against the Lamar Jackson-less Ravens team who used 2 different QBs and now apparently the worst team in the league according to Tradon. The Rams only had 241 yards of total offense which is weird because Stafford alone feels like he has averaged 300+ passing over the last few games. In other news, Puka is out. Hammer the overs on every Davante Adams bet you can find.
4 – Buffalo Bills (4-2) (PR: 2)
LW – Loss to Atlanta Falcons 14-24
It has become largely apparent that the Bills need WR help. Josh Allen can’t do it all and Josh Palmer can’t be the number 1 WR on the team. I mean, he totally can but when Palmer is your best, you have major issues. On the bright side, they get to play the Carolina Panthers next week – a nice lil get right game.
3 – Indianapolis Colts (5-1) (PR: 5)
LW – Win against Arizona Cardinals 31-27
The cat is out of the bag now – the Colts are good and the world knows it. This game showcased their resilience and late game trust in their defense. While it isn’t a good look to let the Cardinals (without Kyler Murray) score 27 points, the defense showed up when it needed to the most. Cam Bynum needs more picks. Not only is he the engine for that defense but make the crowd go crazy with his cellys.
2 – Detroit Lions (4-2) (PR: 1)
LW – Loss to Kansas City Chiefs 17-30
If you read the Chiefs section earlier, you know how I truly feel about this game. I do have to say, I am a tad disappointed in this offense. I was fully expecting a fast-paced, run and gun, shootout but instead, Goff only had 203 passing yards, Gibbs only ran for 65 yards and St. Brown only had 45 receiving yards. The Lion’s defense had trouble too. They have now given up at least 24 points 3 times this season. But on the bright side, Lu’s favorite player, Aiden Hutchensen, had yet another sack.
1 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-1) (PR: 4)
LW – Win over San Francisco 49ers 30-19
Last week I asked if the Bucs were actually good or just lucky. It turns out that they are actually good. I mean, they are #1 in my power rankings now. True next man up mentality for the Bucs. I thought the 49ers had a chance to win after Emeka Egbuka went out but then two guys that I’ve never heard of before caught TDs. Tez Johnson and Kameron Johnson?? Yeah, literally no clue. Baker is making his MVP push and if he keeps playing like this, its his.
