Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets: Week 9

Teams on BYE: Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

QB: Joe Flacco (CIN)

36.7% Rostered

Joe Flacco might be old, but man can he get the ball to superstar WRs. Last week against the New York Jets, he put up 24.32 fantasy points after he put up 26 against the Pittsburgh Steelers the week prior. Against the Jets he went 21/34 for 223 yards passing and 2 TDs. He also added 2 rushes for 14 yards and a TD. Since he’s come to Cincinnati, all he’s done is throw absolute bombs. He is blessed to have not 1, but 2 extremely versatile, incredible WRs in Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. He gets those two the ball early and often. I mean, 2 weeks ago against the Steelers, Chase had 23 targets. Insanity. One of the great things about Flacco is that he’s seen every coverage known to man and is not afraid to throw deep. During this last week against the Jets, the Bengals were finally able to get the running game going which will allow easier play action passes. Up next, the Bengals play against the Chicago Bears. This same Bears team just took the L against a Lamar Jackson-less Baltimore Ravens squad that Tradon has so vehemently deemed the “Worst Team in the League.”

RB: Tyrone Tracy Jr. (NYG)

41.9% Rostered

If you haven’t seen the Cam Skattebo injury yet, I suggest you steer clear of it. Its a toughy forsure. It does, however, lend way to Tyrone Tracy to be the lead back in New York. Against the Philadelphia Eagles, Tracy put up 7.3 points. He had 10 carries for 39 yards and added 2 receptions for 14 yards. All of this came after the Skattebo injury. Although Tracy now takes the lead back role for the Giants, he isn’t as good as Skattebo so I would temper my expectations there. That isn’t to say that Tracy is an absolute bust. In his rookie year on the Giants last season, he had almost 900 yards rushing. Outside of the little bump in the road against the Eagles, the Giants’ offense actually looks good. So maybe Tracy does better than he did last year. Up next, Tracy takes on the San Francisco 49ers. An absolutely atrocious defense that just gave up 157 yards on the ground to the Houston Texans.

WR: Kayshon Boutte (NE)

30.1% Rostered

A callback to a guy I picked a couple weeks ago! Welcome back to my waiver wire, Kayshon Boutte! In the game against the Cleveland Browns, he put up 16.5 points with 3 receptions on 5 targets for 75 yards and a TD. I really liked this guy a couple weeks ago and he’s done nothing to disappoint since I initially picked him. Luckily for you, he’s still rostered under 50%. His increased level of play directly correlates to Drake Maye’s emergence as a great QB. One of the things that Maye does great is his ability to throw deep balls. You know who is incredible at running deep routes? Kayshon Boutte. A match made in heaven. Over the last 3 games, Boutte has brought in 4 TDs. Deep route running guy as well as redzone threat. Whats not to love? Next week the Patriots play against the Atlanta Falcons who just let the dumpster fire of a team, Miami Dolphins put up 34 points.

TE: Juwan Johnson (NO)

33% Rostered

It really feels like the TE Waiver Wire is just a revolving door with 4 different guys. Behind this week’s door is Juwan Johnson. He was a pick of mine a couple weeks ago so revolving door theory suggests its his time to be picked again. Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he scored 10.3 points with 5 receptions on 8 targets for 53 yards. The New Orleans Saints are not good. Plain and simple. One of the few bright spots on the team is Juwan Johnson. The former WR turned TE is one of the few guys on this team that can catch. It doesn’t matter who the Saints’ QB is, Johnson is going to get his. He has had 15 targets over the last 2 weeks. I mean, that isn’t Ja’Marr Chase status but for a TE, that is more than solid. Up next the Saints play against the Los Angeles Rams. The Saints are most definitely going to be losing which means more passing downs for the Saints which means that Juwan Johnson is going to feast. The cool thing is that the week after, they play the Panthers which is another terrible defense. 2 solid weeks of Juwan Johnson incoming!
