Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets: Week 8

Teams on BYE: Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks

 QB: Jaxson Dart (NYG)

43.3% Rostered

I’m running it back with this pick because you guys didn’t listen. Dart scored 28.42 fantasy points and is slated to finish as a top 5 fantasy QB this week. Against a tough Denver Broncos defense, he went 15/33 for 283 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT. He also added 5 carries for 11 yards and a rushing TD. No, he didn’t have another 50+ yard rushing week, but he ran for a touchdown. Although his completion percentage leaves a lot to be desired, this was his best game passing yard wise in his young career. The Giants and Dart should have won this game but was let down by their defense. Up next Dart will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles. This same Eagles defense let Carson Wentz (Yes, that Carson Wentz) throw for 313 yards.

 RB: Kyle Monangai (CHI)

4.1% Rostered

Let me preface this by saying that the running back waiver wire this week is  like looking for water in the desert – almost impossible. But here’s my pick! Let’s welcome in Kyle Monangai. If I’m being honest, last week’s game was the first I’ve heard of the guy, but he did really well and went off for 17.4 points. Against the New Orleans Saints he had 18 carries for 81 yards and a TD. He also added 2 receptions for 13 yards. He only had 6 less carries than RB1 D’Andre Swift. Could this be the beginning of a running back by committee in Chicago? Up next Monangai plays against the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens’ defense has been historically bad. They have played 6 games given up scores like 41, 38, 37 and 44 this season. Chances that the Bears could blow out the Ravens by so much that Monangai gets all the reps in the 4th quarter? Probably very low, but hey, a guy can dream.

 WR: Marvin Mims Jr. (DEN)

19.6% Rostered

Gotta give Alex some credit here – this was his waiver wire pick last week, and he was spot on. Against the New York Giants he scored 15.8 points. He had 6 receptions on 7 targets for 85 yards. He also added 1 carry for 13 yards. I was a little hesitant with Mims last week because his snap count was on a steady decline, but Mims showed me that he makes the most of every single one of his snaps. He was third on the team in targets only behind Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin. Up next, Mims lines up against the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys have been the worst defense in the league in terms of yards allowed (401.6).

 TE: Theo Johnson (NYG)

11.6% Rostered

Please excuse me while I bring another pick back from a couple weeks ago. Welcome back Theo Johnson! Yet another great game for Johnson and it’s always a fun time when you pair your QB and TE picks. Double the points! Against the Denver Broncos he scored 15.6 points. He had 3 receptions on 7 targets for 66 yards and a TD. Like I said a couple weeks ago, he is a BIG part of this Giants decimated passing attack. Over the last 3 weeks he has been targeted 15 times. That’s huge for a TE. Please forgive me if I sound like a broken record but he is a big body target that Dart loves to hit in the endzone. Since Dart took over starting QB duties, Johnson has 4 TDS. Up next Johnson plays against a Philadelphia Eagles defense that allows an average of 349 yards per game.
