MLB Power Rankings: Week 3

12. Philadelphia Phillies (6-4, PR: 10)

Phillies got back on track a bit last week with two series wins against the Nationals and Rockies. Definitely both series you would expect them to win but sometimes wins are wins when you need them. Bats are starting to heat up. Pitching depth is a concern for this team early on.

11. Cincinnati Reds (7-3, PR: NR)

Reds swept the Rangers over the weekend and are looking like they are building on what they started last season. Although a bit top heavy offensively, there’s no doubt Elly De La Cruz is a true star in this league. And Chase Burns is looking like a true ace in his first full big league season.

10. Houston Astros (6-5, PR: NR)

The Astros swept the Red Sox at home before losing a series on the road against the A’s last week. Houston’s offense is launching baseballs right now. They lead MLB in runs and are 2nd in slugging percentage. Yordan Alvarez looks as locked in as ever and Jose Altuve has found his power swing early.

9. Chicago Cubs (5-5, PR: 11)

Chicago has gotten off to an okay start to the season. There’s not much to cause alarm, nor anything to really get excited about. There’s just not the winning chemistry there quite yet but I think it’s only a matter of time before that happens.

8. Seattle Mariners (4-6, PR: 6)

The Mariners have yet to get a series win this season, losing both last week against the Yankees and Angels. So far, this is looking like the Mariners teams of the past with excellent pitching but an offense that is really struggling.

7. Detroit Tigers (4-6, PR: 4)

The Tigers haven’t looked great as a team early on. They are getting excellent pitching from their big-2, Skubal and Valdez, but past that it hasn’t been great. Offensively their best hitter has been the rookie, Kevin McGonigle and third-year second basement Colt Keith. They need more from everyone else.

6. Toronto Blue Jays (4-5, PR: 2)

The defending AL Champs got swept by the White Sox and lost a series to the Rockies last week. That’s a pretty terrible showing against teams they should beat, especially going into a mid-week series against the Dodgers.

5. New York Mets (6-4, PR: 7)

All things considered, the Mets are off to a solid start to the season. Louis Robert Jr continues his revival. The Juan Soto injury is a bummer but it looks like he won’t miss too much time. The pitching has looked very good early on.

4. Atlanta Braves (6-4, PR: 9)

Speaking of great pitching, the Braves are looking almost unhittable right now. They lead MLB in ERA, WHIP, and BAA. On top of that, their offense is top 5 in many categories. Atlanta might be back to being a real contender this season.

3. Milwaukee Brewers (7-2, PR: 5)

The Brew Crew is back and looking as good as ever. The offense continues to be a huge strength of this team. Christian Yelich looks like he is back to MVP-form. Misiorowski might lead the league in strikeouts this season.

2. New York Yankees (7-2, PR: 3)

Yankees continue their strong start to the season. I said it last week but it’s worth mentioning again, the scariest part of this team is that their pitching already looks great and their two best pitchers are still on the IL.

1. Los Angeles Dodgers (7-2, PR: 1)

The Dodgers offense finally got going during their weekend sweep of the Nationals. Their best hitter right now is Andy Pages, who won NL Player of the Week, as he leads the NL in hits. LA leads the league in batting average and slugging percentage.
